Supreme Court denies Graham’s request for stay of execution

CNN: “The Supreme Court Thursday evening rejected an emergency appeal to stay the execution of convicted murderer Gary Graham, clearing the way for his death by lethal injection.

Officials at Texas Governor George W. Bush’s office said earlier Thursday that the execution would take place at 6:30 p.m. CDT if the high court rejected the appeal.”

Bush in a press conference: “I’m going to uphold the laws of the land, and if it costs me politically, then it’ll cost me politically.” It will if I can help it.

Gary Graham from behind bars (seen on Larry King): “If there’s one thing that we can all agree on, it’s that it’s the whole process that failed.”
