  • I’m watching Apocalypse Now on DVD. I haven’t seen it since the first time it aired on cable (over 15 years ago), and I’m sure my take on it at 30 will be verry different than at 14.
  • Bet you didn’t know that I marched (carried) on Washington against the Vietnam war before I was one year old. (On the film: Charging a man with murder in this place was like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500)
  • Quotes from Apocalypse Now:

Someday this war’s gonna end. That’d be just fine with the boys on the boat. Trouble is I’d been back there, and I knew it just didn’t exist anymore.

The war was being run by a bunch of 4-star clowns, who were gonna end up giving the whole circus away.

We’re not supposed to be in Cambodia, but that’s classified.

This bridge, we build it every night, Charlie blows it up again, just so the Generals can say the road’s open.

I used to think if I died in an evil place, my soul wouldn’t be able to make it up to Heaven, but now- fuck- I don’t care where it is as long as it ain’t here.

You’re an errand boy, sent by grocery clerks, to collect a bill.

The man is clear in his mind, but he’s insane in his soul.
