  • I’m adding pages with the scripts I wrote about yesterday. The cool thing is that I’ll be able to plug this editing interface directly into the Mac Publishing sites as they are, without having to move anything around.
  • Sally’s nephews, Auston and Miles are staying with us tonight. Here they are:

  • I’m starting to have some cool stuff happening. I’m developing an editorial interface that’s half-way between Manila and WebEdit. It’s an ftp-like browser with buttons that allow you to get to CGIs that do file-system-like stuff, like adding folders and documents, renaming things, moving things around, and getting into page editors. It’s also going to be able to get at scalar values inside, for example, the #prefs table, via fields on a CGI form. I’m taking into account the fact that there are special entries that may want popups, radio buttins or checkboxes. It’s looking good.
  • As seen on Scripting News, Edit This Page crashed this afternoon, and had to be restored from a backup. I lost changes I’d made here and on Jahoo! late last night.
  • Overheard in the office: I wonder what the longest yoyo in the world is.

  • Ok, so I’m getting ready to rip apart mainresponder.tableToHTML(). I’m going to see what it feelis like to have a filesystem-like interface on top of Edit This Page buttons. Unfortulately, this code is Userland’s, and I don’t have a callback to this specific routine. Maybe they should add one.
  • I’m curious about Pike. I asked the question on the Manila-Newbies mailing list today, of whether I’d be able to use Pike with older-style Frontier sites. Dave replied: “That’s an excellent question. Unless we discover a silver bullet, every site is going to require a back-end to interface to Pike in the form of XML-RPC handlers.” I wonder what the interface looks like.
  • I swapped my measly little 15″ monitor for a 21″, but the contrast is all messed up. The resolution is better though, and that’s what I wanted.

Ahh… Tuesday. Back to work.

  • Has anyone checked out NetBarrier? It’s a firewall and anti-hacking software for Macs (which is what I’m running “Jspace” with). I’d like to try it out, but I don’t want to have to buy it. They don’t seem to have a trial version.
