Previously, there was no way to read RSS feeds for Editors Only Manila sites in an RSS news reader, because Manila uses a cookie for authenticating membership.

This feature enables basic HTTP authentication for the RSS feeds in Editors Only Manila sites, so that any RSS news reader which supports subscribing to password-protected feeds can be used to read the RSS feeds in Editors Only Manila sites.

If you run a Manila server and would like to help test this feature, please follow the instructions in this message on the Manila-Dev mail list.

A couple of small changes for Radio:

The RSS enclosures prefs page now includes a setting for choosing where to save downloaded enclosures.

A few macros which weren’t previously explained in Radio’s help system have been added to the Built-in Macros help page.

Update Radio.root to get the changes.

New feature for Manila users: Discussion Group RSS Feeds.

Your discussion group’s RSS feed makes it easy for you and your readers to follow discussion on your site using any news aggregator which supports RSS.

Here are a few example feeds from the Manila, Radio, and Frontier sites (all served by Manila).
