I’m really enjoying it so far. I actually bought a 43 HD hour model and an HDMI/DVI cable from WeaKnees, for about $485 shipped (3-day).
I still have, for about seven years, I think, a Philips series 1, expanded with a second drive, and hacked with telnet, ftpd, vserver and of course TivoWebPlus. The latter was my replacement for the fact that you can’t normally schedule shows via the web on a series 1 machine.
Unfortunately I didn’t have the lifetime on the Philips, or I might have considered transferring it to a Series 3, but they’re really just way too expensive. Looks like it’ll probably be sadly retired, drives repurposed, and put out to pasture at the computer recycling center, to become part of a road or park bench someday.
Color me jealous! I have an old Sony Series 1 with product lifetime and I’m ready to switch it out. The reviews of that were great…�
