I’ve spent some time over the last few days taking inventory, and reviewing ways to reduce hosting costs. It looks like it may be easier to keep things at The Planet, and consolidate down to one or two machines.
In the meantime, I’m helping move a few sites off the servers, most notably RedToenail.org, which is still a pretty lively Manila-based community. They have a new hosting provider — a Windows virtual server, for about the price of a basic cable plan, and if things work out it may be a good model for keeping the core UserLand sites running.
Ps. Typing this on my iPhone using my Think Outside Bluetooth keyboard. So glad I’m jailbroken. 🙂
