It was my birthday yesterday. 39. So big you almost have to write it out: thirty-nine. Still a kid at heart though — look what I got in the mail for a gift:

Happy birthday Jake!
My better half got me a PS3 for Christmas, totally awesome. Especially if you have an HDTV.
But… no XBOX 360?! 😉

Oh, I already have a 360. That was a birthday gift from Cindy two years ago.
So far there are things to like and dislike about both. The PS3 feels like a more serious machine, but I must say I like the 360 controller better.
The PS3 has done better so far playing my media streaming DLNA-style from my NAS box, but frankly XBMC is still by far the best media-center I’ve used so far. Too bad the original XBOX isn’t up to HD.
Oh, one more thing on the PS3: I’ve heard it said over and over, but its upscaler is killer. Video, even NTSC-resolution video looks far better on the PS3 than anywhere else I’ve played it. Too bad it doesn’t support all the formats I have. :
