We’ve released some enhancements for Manila’s news item departments feature:

News item departments now each have their own RSS 2.0 feeds. In addition, each Manila site now has a page which lists all the departments in the site, along with links to each department, and its RSS feed.

See this page on the Manila site for details.

Previously, there was no way to read RSS feeds for Editors Only Manila sites in an RSS news reader, because Manila uses a cookie for authenticating membership.

This feature enables basic HTTP authentication for the RSS feeds in Editors Only Manila sites, so that any RSS news reader which supports subscribing to password-protected feeds can be used to read the RSS feeds in Editors Only Manila sites.

If you run a Manila server and would like to help test this feature, please follow the instructions in this message on the Manila-Dev mail list.

A couple of small changes for Radio:

The RSS enclosures prefs page now includes a setting for choosing where to save downloaded enclosures.

A few macros which weren’t previously explained in Radio’s help system have been added to the Built-in Macros help page.

Update Radio.root to get the changes.
